Q-strap

Q-strap (Quick-strap) is an alternative product apart from R-strap design with enhancement that i find it very useful compare to the originals and it’s cheaper. Before i use Q-strap I’ve been using the original strap from Nikon where most of the time it rest on your shoulder or neck, right? Place in shoulder sometimes it might feel like easily dropped and putting over your neck will strain all over your neck and shoulder. I did experience this when i travel to Bangkok last time for a week and putting your DSLR camera over your neck walking around is not a very good idea, luckily massage in Bangkok was cheap so went for full body massage every night . It’s using solid metal material for the base and the quick release appear solid and durable. There is also a safety slot for you to put a string to attach to your camera body to secure the camera body. I did not put the safety string yet even I’m just back from my travel trip recently as i do check the screw mount...

Blogging tool is depend on user preference where some like to use Window Live Writer as I was used to use it too when using on windows but then I’ve converted to use Ubuntu and most of the time at home i will be using Ubuntu so finding another blogging tools that is similar to WLW is not much or maybe i’m not know of it.

I google around and found some people comment to use ScribeFire that just add-on to firefox browser and is very convenience to use. At any time you want to blog about website or just thought of something you just press “F8″ inside Firefox browser you will get the blogging tool directly. It have all the features like what you need in WLW and I didn’t find any difficulty on find the function.

The installation is very straight forward as it only install as plug-in, file download size also pretty small. So give it a try today…

Blueman for Ubuntu

I’m been trying to send photo from my phone to my laptop using the built-in bluetooth software that comes with Ubuntu 9.10 but it does not support receiving files, what a frustration. So i do a little google and found a tool that make wonders with just minor setting, the software call Blueman Bluetooth Manager.

Blueman is a GTK+ Bluetooth Manager.Blueman is designed to provide simple, yet effective means for controlling BlueZ API and simplifying bluetooth tasks such as:

  • Connecting to 3G/EDGE/GPRS via dial-up
  • Connecting to/Creating bluetooth networks
  • Connecting to input devices
  • Connecting to audio devices
  • Sending/Receiving/Browsing files via OBEX
  • Pairing

Blueman also integrates with Network Manager 0.7, so any Dialup/Network connections will be made available (via HAL) to Network Manager.

The installation is just way to simple and type the following and viola, you’re done.

sudo apt-get install blueman

I’ve not yet try using it to connect to internet via my 3G but will try it soon.

Chinese Traditional Fullmoon Celebration

dlight[3]

In old days, when a new born baby reach 1 month old and in Chinese tradition will celebrate Fullmoon for the baby. During the celebration the family members will prepare red egg (where the egg dip into red coloring liquid that consist of vinegar and red color to make the egg become red), pickled ginger, vinegar pork leg (with lots of ginger and vinegar) and Ang Koo kuih.

After the preparing all the foods, all the families member including all relatives will enjoy the foods will seeing the new born baby. Apart from this, the parent do gives red eggs and roast pork to friends or relatives that does not able to come on that day as to thank and cherish the happiest moment. As times goes by this tradition seem to be far left behind as city peoples are too busy with city life’s and usually does not do that but just order catering then invites all the relatives and friend to come by.

Even now a days this Fullmoon celebration have extended not just to our friend but even to our office colleague that did not manage to come by and just purchase a Fullmoon gift pack from Delights Fullmoon that have offered such packages to saves time and able to celebrate this cherish moment with all friends.

Wasting Resources

I was wonder who proposing the usage of the so call blower that Alam Sekitar is using to blow all the leave from the road to the drain (long kang) or road side. It was such an wasting of resource where hiring a bunch of people just doing that and it does not make any help but creating problem.

They not just blowing the leave into the drain but others rubbish as well causing the drain clog end up all the drain water stuck there and mosquito starting to breed there. If the area is good enough to have another bunch of people to clean up the drain then its still ok but why need to split a simple job into 2 group of people doing it.

I really have not idea what is the guy who proposed think? ….

Wasting our money for nothing, not even creating a better living for us….
