The following guide will show on how to configure Fortigate to make PPPoE connection on UniFi line without using the Dlink-615 Router.

1) Login to Fortigate Web GUI

2) Go to “System” -> “Network” -> “Interface”

3) Select either WAN 1 or 2 for Unifi connection and change the setting to use static IP then provide a dummy IP that does not clash with existing network on this interface.

4) Then click on “Create New” and the following screen appear, key in the according to the screenshot below

5) The following is the screenshot of the completed setting once you press “OK” button on steps 4 above.

You can see that Unifi is connected with the Public IP.

6) Once the connection is up, you need to create firewall policy for internal to Unifi as the WAN interface has changed from WAN 1 or 2 to Unifi. Hence all the firewall policy required to reflect on the new interface. If there is any Virtual IP previously set on using WAN 1 or 2 would required to change accordingly.

Wiring connection

The physical connection will be direct connection from the Telekom Huawei Fiber modem to Fortigate WAN 1 or 2 and remove all the cable connecting to DLink-615 router. If you need to use D-link wireless, then you need to change the setting on the D-link router.

For Enterprise user they are mainly use on Data VLAN and those firewall or router that support PPPoE over VLAN can actually replace that Dlink. Here i wrote a simple guide on how to replace Dlink router with Cyberoam UTM that have the PPPoE over VLAN capabilities.

1) Login to Cyberoam Web GUI

2) Go to “Network” -> “Interface”

3) Set the Port that you required to use for WAN and change the setting to use static IP. Provide a dummy IP on this interface.

4) Then click on “Add VLAN” and the following screen appear

5) The following is the screenshot of the completed setting once you press “OK” button on steps 4 above.

You can see that PortB.500 is connected with the UniFi Public IP.

The following instruction will guide you on how to jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 2G/3G/4G, iPad and Apple TV 2G.

Step 6 : You’re almost done, on the homescreen will appear “Loader” and start the “Loader” to install the Cydia, make sure to install the SSH from Cydia. Then change the root password of your device to protect from any unauthorized access from public since the default root password is “alpine”.

It’s using solid metal material for the base and the quick release appear solid and durable. There is also a safety slot for you to put a string to attach to your camera body to secure the camera body. I did not put the safety string yet even I’m just back from my travel trip recently as i do check the screw mount every time to make sure it lock firmly but surprisingly it does not come to loose.

There are few advantages that i found compare to R-strap is the mounting plate is large enough to support DLSR body and this would not cause the mounting screw to get loose when hanging on your hips while moving around. The mounting screw do have the tripod mount so it can mount directly to tripod without removing the screw, so its very convenience to hook up to the tripod. The shoulder pad also have compartment to put 2 memory cards and it would be very handy when you need that.

Apart from all the advantages it do have some disadvantages that i find it quite discomfort, the should pad seems to be quite slim and does not able to provide a very comfortable but much better comparing to original strap . The shoulder pad also does not able to sit firmly on the should and it always dropping to the back, it required you to adjust every time after taking a photo.

Overall I like this Q-strap because it able to provide a comfortable way to carry your DSLR and able to reach your camera easily enable you to capture every single precious moment with a very reasonable price. I bought it from Direct Photo and it do have for dual camera body model.
