Blogging tool is depend on user preference where some like to use Window Live Writer as I was used to use it too when using on windows but then I’ve converted to use Ubuntu and most of the time at home i will be using Ubuntu so finding another blogging tools that is similar to WLW is not much or maybe i’m not know of it.

I google around and found some people comment to use ScribeFire that just add-on to firefox browser and is very convenience to use. At any time you want to blog about website or just thought of something you just press “F8″ inside Firefox browser you will get the blogging tool directly. It have all the features like what you need in WLW and I didn’t find any difficulty on find the function.

The installation is very straight forward as it only install as plug-in, file download size also pretty small. So give it a try today…

I’m been trying to send photo from my phone to my laptop using the built-in bluetooth software that comes with Ubuntu 9.10 but it does not support receiving files, what a frustration. So i do a little google and found a tool that make wonders with just minor setting, the software call Blueman Bluetooth Manager.

Blueman is a GTK+ Bluetooth Manager.Blueman is designed to provide simple, yet effective means for controlling BlueZ API and simplifying bluetooth tasks such as:

Connecting to 3G/EDGE/GPRS via dial-up

Connecting to/Creating bluetooth networks

Connecting to input devices

Connecting to audio devices

Sending/Receiving/Browsing files via OBEX

Pairing

Blueman also integrates with Network Manager 0.7, so any Dialup/Network connections will be made available (via HAL) to Network Manager.

The installation is just way to simple and type the following and viola, you’re done.

sudo apt-get install blueman

I’ve not yet try using it to connect to internet via my 3G but will try it soon.

This is the worst nightmare as most of the time I listen to music using youtube where you can find tonnes of music ranging from oldiest to 21’s century when using Firefox on Ubuntu can view the video but no sound. Luckily it was just a missing plugin that can be install to get back the sound else will be just wipe off back to windows .

Strange thing is you can listen to music using the music player but just aint got sound on firefox, so if you too having the same problem don’t wait just run the command below and you’re on your way to get back the sound:-

sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound

After install the package, you need to close the Firefox and re-open back. Previously this packages was named libflashsupport and you can’t install that to the current version 9.0.4.

Sound kinda wierd to have Internet Explorer to be install on linux distro as we use linux is to run away from M$ world but sometimes have no choice as some of the website or appliances required to use IE, that’s bad. There is a tool call IEs4Linux to helps you install IE into your distro, just choose your distro version and download then install. I show on how to install for Ubuntu as I installed into my Ubuntu 9.0.4 Jaunty Jackalope with problem.

You need to install wine package and cabextract like this:-

sudo apt-get install wine cabextract

Once you done install the wine package and cabextract, you can proceed to download the IEs4linux and start the installation like below:-

wget http://www.tatanka.com.br/ies4linux/downloads/ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
tar xvfz ies4linux-latest.tar.gz
cd ies4linux-*
./ies4linux

When you run the “./ies4linux” command it will start the gui installation where you can choose which IE version to install then it will download the rest of the package to install automatically, roughly takes about 10 to 15 min depend on your internet speed. That’s end of the installation and you will have your IE shown on the desktop.
