Mythology

According to legend, in ancient China, the Nián (年) was a man-eating beast from the mountains (in other versions from under the sea), which came out every 12 months somewhere close to winter to prey on humans. The people later believed that the Nian was sensitive to loud noises and the colour red, so they scared it away with explosions, fireworks and the liberal use of the colour red. These customs led to the first New Year celebrations. Guò nián (simplified Chinese: 过年; traditional Chinese: 過年), which means to celebrate the new year, literally means the passover of the Nian.

WordPress 2.3.2

This is my first post of year 2008, and when i just log in to the site admin it ask for version upgrade after sometimes didn’t update my blog as too busy with my relative wedding. So I just updated my blog to version 2.3.2 where there is some security issue on the current version.

WordPress 2.3.2 is an urgent security release that fixes a bug that can be used to expose your draft posts. 2.3.2 also suppresses some error messages that can give away information about your database table structure and limits and stops some information leaks in the XML-RPC and APP implementations. Get 2.3.2 now to protect your blog from these disclosures.

As a little bonus, 2.3.2 allows you to define a custom DB error page. Place your custom template at wp-content/db-error.php. If WP has a problem connecting to your database, this page will displayed rather than the default error message.

For more detail on what’s new in 2.3.2, view the list of fixed bugs and see the changes between 2.3.1 and 2.3.2.

Special thanks to Alex Concha for his help on this release.

Melaka – Jonker Street

We did not want to miss all the nice food and historical building in Melaka, so we drove to Melaka town from A`Famosa resort and takes about 45 min drive. First night we drove to Jonker street where at night the street is closed for night market and you will saw a lot of hand crafted souvenirs. We had tried the fried oyster along the Jonker Street but not a good as not manage to get a nice one to eat..too bad.

Next morning after we checkout from A`Famosa, we back to Jonker Street again for photography and lots of foods..for sure. We snap few photo of the Red Building just to compare those photo taken during our “pak to” time in Melaka also. Do alot of different compare to few years back..haha..getting fatter.

Then we just shop around at Jonker Street, where we found 1 shop called “Jonker Dessert” and most of the people there enjoying cendol but we didn’t wanna try it in the first place where we have spotted the Nyonya Laksa that interest us both. We don’t want to get our stomach full so fast just get 1 bowl of the nyonya laksa to taste. The taste is perfect, combination of spicy and sour with nyonya spices makes you can’t resist another bowl.

This coffee shop decorated with a lot of ancient/antic item where you can enjoy looking at it while tasting the delicious food. We left the shop after finish our laksa and a cup of coffee (hainan coffee) in tea bag. We continue walk down to the end of the street and you really can find all sort of antic item there, first time in my life I saw this shop making bounding shoe or some call it foot binding where the shoe is very small binding to the feet and force the feet not to grow big.

I really amaze to see the size of the shoe, can you imagine how the girl stand on the feet so small? The guy in the photo is the shop owner and this shoe is made by his ancestor. I really enjoy travel to Melaka and I’m going to visit again to shot more nice photo.

Paul Potts

This is a terrific story from the show Britain’s Got Talent. The audience has little expectation for this cell phone salesman, Paul Potts, until he brings them to their feet with an amazing performance of an extremely difficult opera song – Puccini’s “Nessun Dorma”.  Within two minutes he shows more emotion than all the contestants combined.  I’m not into opera but even I had to watch this video a number of times and really amaze of his talent.

Here is the video
