Lightning strike again… [ November 19th, 2008 ] Posted in » General

Oh man this is the second time my modem kena lightning strike and i not really aware that there is an strike. Altought I have install the Belkin powerstrip with phone lightning arrest but it still go through wonder how does it protect my device?

And I thought that my phone line having problem that I can’t hear any dial tone as I encounter few times telekom doing something on the exchange cause no tone and after few hours to 1 day the tone will back to normal. But this time few days so I check all the phone wiring as my house phone wiring was a mess, then only found out the Belkin powerstrip was out on the phone line.

At the same time my 3 yrs old rig having problem on the mainboard, it won’t startup hang on the BIOS screen just displaying the proccessor and that it stop there. Suspect cause by the lighning strike also where 1 of my 8 port switch port spoiled, might be the current strike to my mainboard LAN port make it short circuit.

Not sure if can claim my mainboard also, but if yes how to sent it? bring my whole rig over with all my data for sure I won’t give them right as i have tons of movie inside LOL. Will call them up later to clarify how to claim my mobo.

My wife send me an email contain a video file with the title “Openning a baggage” and that get me interested so I download it and have a look. Have you ever wonder how some of your friend MSN display picture is keep on changing like slide show, thanks to Messenger Plus Live! and with the scripts that make it possible. I only get to know this features from Wai Ling a friend’s of mine.

Vadofone acquires ZYB

I got an email from ZYB mention that Vodafone have acquires their services on 16 May and still continue providing the services for free.

Vodafone* today announces that it has agreed to acquire 100% of ZYB, a privately-owned company based in Denmark which operates a social networking and online management tool enabling mobile phone users to back-up and share their handsets’ contact and calendar information online. The acquisition will be made for a cash consideration of Eur31.5 million.

I think they will have more features added in later after acquire by Vodafone.

Happy Wesak Day for all the buddishts followers

Today is Wesak day where all the buddishts and followers alike are expected and requested to assemble in their various temples before dawn for the ceremonial, and honorable, hoisting of the Buddhist flag and the singing of hymns in praise of the holy triple gem: The Buddha, The Dharma (his teachings), and The Sangha (his disciples).

Me and my family will only take vegetarian foods for the day in this wesak day.

Belkin claim

Last friday (16/05/08) I received a call from AV Future Link (Belkin Distributor) said the claim that I submit already approved and manage to claim back RM 400 for the spoil cordless phone, modem and wireless router. Not bad atleast I can get back the money and get new devices even after get lightning strike but need to wait for about a month plus.

Windows XP SP3 Causes ‘Blue Screen Of Death’ On AMD-Based PCs

Just got the news from InformationWeek that AMD processor based PC will get a BSOD after upgrading to SP3, so far I have updated to my Dell notebook (Intel) is running without any issue..(touchwood) luckily i didn’t try on my AMD desktop PC.

Second night in Penang

Come to second night in penang, we try out this place in Tanjung Bungah and its quite easy to find if you coming from Batu Ferringhi you will saw the Swimming Pool on your left hand side. Futher up a bit you can see a low cost flat on your right and there is a traffic light there, turn left on that traffic light as you can see a red signboard “Tai Pak Kong Temple” (note that the wording is in mandarin). Go straight in till you see the temple as the restaurant is next to the temple facing the sea.
