Lightning strike again… [ November 19th, 2008 ] Posted in » General

Oh man this is the second time my modem kena lightning strike and i not really aware that there is an strike. Altought I have install the Belkin powerstrip with phone lightning arrest but it still go through wonder how does it protect my device?

And I thought that my phone line having problem that I can’t hear any dial tone as I encounter few times telekom doing something on the exchange cause no tone and after few hours to 1 day the tone will back to normal. But this time few days so I check all the phone wiring as my house phone wiring was a mess, then only found out the Belkin powerstrip was out on the phone line.

At the same time my 3 yrs old rig having problem on the mainboard, it won’t startup hang on the BIOS screen just displaying the proccessor and that it stop there. Suspect cause by the lighning strike also where 1 of my 8 port switch port spoiled, might be the current strike to my mainboard LAN port make it short circuit.

Not sure if can claim my mainboard also, but if yes how to sent it? bring my whole rig over with all my data for sure I won’t give them right as i have tons of movie inside LOL. Will call them up later to clarify how to claim my mobo.

Windows 2003 with 4GB memory

I’m installing a HP ML 370 G5 server with Windows 2003 R2 SP2 and the server upgraded to 4 GB memory. After done all the installation and updates, i check the system memory and on the “General” tab only display 3.25 GB memory.

I wonder where does the rest goes? So i dig in google.com and search for solution then i found out that we need to enable the PAE (Physical Address Extension) option on the boot.ini file.

WINDOWS=”Windows Server 2003, Standard” /PAE /noexecute=optout /fastdetect

You just need to add in the “/PAE” portion to your existing boot.ini file and reboot your server then you can see the full physical memory size display on the “General” tab.

Hello Ah Ma!!

A China pumpkin girl was visiting New York, went into a worldwide message center wanting to send an urgent, important message to her mother in China. The Italian guy at the counter told her it would cost around US$100/=. She exclaimed, ” I don’t have that kind of money, but I will do anything to get a message to my mother in China !”
The Italian smiled, arched an eyebrow and asked, “Anything?” “Yes, I promise…anything!” she said. With that, the Italian said, “Follow me.”

He led her to the next room and said, “Come in and close the door.”
“Get down on your knees!” he ordered. She did. “Unzip me!” he said. She did.
Then he said, “Go on…take it out.” She did and grabbed it with both hands excitedly.

The Italian closed his eyes and & whispered, “Go ahead girl, what are you waiting for?
“Ms China pumpkin girl slowly brought her lips closer and said loudly, ” “Hello….hello Ah Mah!!!..can you hear me??”

WordPress 2.3.2

This is my first post of year 2008, and when i just log in to the site admin it ask for version upgrade after sometimes didn’t update my blog as too busy with my relative wedding. So I just updated my blog to version 2.3.2 where there is some security issue on the current version.

WordPress 2.3.2 is an urgent security release that fixes a bug that can be used to expose your draft posts. 2.3.2 also suppresses some error messages that can give away information about your database table structure and limits and stops some information leaks in the XML-RPC and APP implementations. Get 2.3.2 now to protect your blog from these disclosures.

As a little bonus, 2.3.2 allows you to define a custom DB error page. Place your custom template at wp-content/db-error.php. If WP has a problem connecting to your database, this page will displayed rather than the default error message.

For more detail on what’s new in 2.3.2, view the list of fixed bugs and see the changes between 2.3.1 and 2.3.2.

Special thanks to Alex Concha for his help on this release.
