Lightning strike again… [ November 19th, 2008 ] Posted in » General

Oh man this is the second time my modem kena lightning strike and i not really aware that there is an strike. Altought I have install the Belkin powerstrip with phone lightning arrest but it still go through wonder how does it protect my device?

And I thought that my phone line having problem that I can’t hear any dial tone as I encounter few times telekom doing something on the exchange cause no tone and after few hours to 1 day the tone will back to normal. But this time few days so I check all the phone wiring as my house phone wiring was a mess, then only found out the Belkin powerstrip was out on the phone line.

At the same time my 3 yrs old rig having problem on the mainboard, it won’t startup hang on the BIOS screen just displaying the proccessor and that it stop there. Suspect cause by the lighning strike also where 1 of my 8 port switch port spoiled, might be the current strike to my mainboard LAN port make it short circuit.

Not sure if can claim my mainboard also, but if yes how to sent it? bring my whole rig over with all my data for sure I won’t give them right as i have tons of movie inside LOL. Will call them up later to clarify how to claim my mobo.

Leading Leaders to Leadership

Last sun, shopping at Jusco Klang with my wife for few hours. While waiting for dinner time, we both went into Popular book shop look around as my wife loves to hang around stationery area. Its common that what jobs that you do, you will likes to see those things…right?

I thought of getting the “Dato Lim Goh Tong” success story books but can’t find it and i walk into the management section and just read through some of the book and saw this “Leading Leaders to Leadership” by John Fuhrman. Not bad they have 1 of the book un-warp so you can have a look on the content. I’m lack in management nor leading a team, so i get hook on this book and end up getting it.

WordPress 2.3.1 - Updated

WordPress 2.3.1 is now available. 2.3.1 is a bug-fix and security release for the 2.3 series.

2.3.1 fixes over twenty bugs. Some of the notable fixes are:

  • Tagging support for Windows Live Writer
  • Fixes for a login bug that affected those with a Blog Address different than
    their WordPress Address
  • Faster taxonomy database queries, especially tag intersection queries
  • Link importer fixes

Unfortunately, some security issues were found in 2.3. Janek Vind found an XSS problem that can be exploited if your php setup has register_globals enabled. For this reason, upgrading to 2.3.1 is advised.

Just updated my blog from previous version 2.2.3 to this version, thanks to Siew for the updates. I’m using the Maintenance Mode display on my blog when I’m doing the upgrading and it is a very good plug-in to have.

Kedai Kopi Shin Lok - Famous kopi & Pau

Sunday is family days and we go to Kuala Selangor for seafood with my parent in-law and cousin, most of the times they prefer to go kuala Selangor seafood compare to Teluk Gong near banting as there more expensive and crowded.

This time they have a mission that is to find a famous vegetarian pao, chicken pao and yam cake. The coffee shop located on your halfway through to Kuala Selangor from Kapar klang before Sasaran, you will see a mosque and a Petronas petrol station. The shop is in the middle of the mosque and petrol station, then you can see the “Kedai Kopi Shin Lok” and you have reach the destination.

You will be surprise most of the people is enjoying the pao and you need to wait for the “Pao” as they make it fresh everyday as you can see the production place just behind the shop. It may takes up to hours for the pao to serve and we have order some to bring back home when we back from Kuala Selangor.

Do drop by this coffee shop for the fresh steam “pao” if you’re around that area.
